A great way to add a little interest and intrigue to your garden or patio is to paint that old forgotten chair that you keep moving from place to place. I painted these two chairs for the Madera Master Gardener Plant Sale.
You may be thinking I could never do that. It is not rocket science! First find an interesting chair. Clean, lightly sand and if necessary make any repairs and cut a hold in the center for a pot. Second decide what paint colors you would like to use and of those choose the dominant color. The red chair I just started with the red and painted different areas to keep balance. I then painted the black and then added the accents of green and yellow. Just start painting! If you don’t like it you can redo it! I used the ends of dowels and skewers sticks for the dots. Dot till your hearts content. Layer the dots. Make a pattern with the dots. Define an interesting element of the chair with dots. After you are satisfied with your master piece seal it with an acrylic sealer or varnish. You can purchase sealer in either spray or brush on.
Happy Painting!
